I have a 2010 WRX. After reading forums for hours, if I want to flash my ECU using opensource, I need:
Tactrix 2.0 Cable
ECCUFlash
AEM CAI
Fuel Pump
and map.
Do I need any other software? Is it as easy as opening ECUFlash and loading the map that I will download from the XPT store and flashing the ECU?
Am I on point?
(Stage 1)

And if I purchase the map, if an updated one comes out, can I download the new one for free?

You defiantly need:
-Tactrix 2.0 Cable (http://www.tactrix.com/product_info.php?products_id=49)
-ECCUFlash (http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=EcuFlash)
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump Part #GSS342
-XPT 2010 Stage 2 Map (http://www.xpttuning.com/index.php?main ... cts_id=118)

Optional part:
-AEM Cold Air Intake Part #21-478WR

I also recommend downloading RomRaider (http://www.romraider.com/RomRaider/Download) software for data logging.
The installation instructions are included with the map purchase. It's not hard to flash a Subaru and if you have decent computers skills you should have no trouble at all accomplishing this task.

Sounds like you should have no problem setting up you 2010 WRX with the XPT Stage 2 Map, but if you do, that is what this forum is here for. Post any issues or concerns and we will try to reply with a solution or a fix.

A stock/un-tuned Subaru is considered to be Stage 0.

Yes, although most XPT maps are considered to be a final version upon release.

I Hope this helps you with your upgrading decisions.

Aside from the so called 36 extra HP I would get from the AEM CAI, what kind of power increase would I get from the Stage 1 map? Cause I am under the assumption that the Stage 2 requies an aftermarket turbo and exauhst. I am keeping my stock turbo and exausht. Stage 1 requires fuel pump and AEM. Correct?

The XPT Stage 2 map does require a Turbo IHI VF52 Turbo Upgrade and a Turbo Back Exhaust (TBE) install [*along with all the same stuff needed for the Stage 1 map].

Typically you will not see that big of a hp increase from using a Cold Air Intake (CAI) over a stock Air Box with K& N Filter, however if you live in a warm state it will defiantly help with your turbo intake temps which will help you gain a few hp as the end result. The drawback to most CAI is that they need to be tuned to perform at their best. It just so happens that we wrote the Stage 1 and the Stage 2 maps tuned with a AEM CAI system equipped. This maximizes the airflow and the overall hp and performance of these map upgrades. And yes it does add hp to the overall tune.

If you decide to just get the Stage 1 Map this is all you need:
-Stock Airbox with K&N Part # 33-2304 or
-AEM Cold Air Intake Part #21-478WR
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump Part # GSS342 (REQUIRED!!!)
*Everything else can remain as it is.

Stage 1 maps are more about throttle response and over driveability. Some customers report hp gains on the dyno from our Stage 1 maps, but I would think of a Stage 1 map more as adding a little boost and better spool to your stock turbo than adding any great hp to your car. It is a very nice upgrade and I highly recommend doing a Stage 1 map before putting all the work into setting up a Stage 2 WRX.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Sorry if I sound redundant, What is the difference between the Stage 1 and Stage 2 maps? How much HP increase will I get from each map and will I need to add any other hardware than the Stage 1 map asks for?

Maybe Braden can chime in on the actual hp numbers differences between these maps.

I am still confused..
Stage 1 Mapping for your 2010 WRX with OpenSource
This particular map is designed for the 2010 WRX with the following mods:
-Stock Airbox with K&N Part # 33-2304 or
-AEM Cold Air Intake Part #21-478WR
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump Part # GSS342 (REQUIRED!!!)

Stage 2 Mapping for your 2010 WRX with the VF52
This particular map is designed for the 2010 WRX with the following mods:
-IHI VF52 Turbo with STOCK Turbo Inlet, STOCK Boost Solenoid, and STOCK VF52 Pills
-Stock Airbox with K&N Part # 33-2304 or AEM Cold Air Intake Part #21-478WR
-Catted or Catless Downpipe (Invidia Preferred)
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump Part #GSS342

I would only be getting the AEM CAI and fuel pump. So doesnt that mean I only meet the requirements for Stage 1?
